Learning that’s truly right for you

"Don’t manage learning time; shape learning processes."

Being guided every step of the way throughout one’s entire school career in order to internalize the material—this idea is probably just as difficult to imagine as the vision of being completely left to one’s own devices.

  • But how do I learn to prepare myself properly and effectively?

  • How do I learn to learn?

  • How can I manage to stay organized while doing this?

  • How can I get a realistic idea of my abilities before assignments and exams?

Children and teenagers at the Steinmühle boarding school can find answers to these and other questions in the school’s own learning center. Under the guidance of qualified staff, they learn about different learning strategies and which ones work best for them individually. They learn to take responsibility for themselves. They develop a sense of self-efficacy.

Find out here exactly how the study center at Steinmühle Boarding School operates and what its underlying concept is:

Preparation for the Abitur

The students at the Steinmühle boarding school can prepare for the Abitur and its requirements in a particularly intensive way.

The program usually begins in late January with a weekly math prep course led by Lernbüro director Patric Hahn. Assignments are reviewed and worked through.

The intensity of preparation increases as the written Abitur exams draw nearer.
The focus is on the relevant subjects. For example, if students are taking chemistry, there is a chemistry workshop.
International students receive extra support in German.

Other subjects in which students may need support for the Abitur include politics, history, ethics, and even physical education. The head of the learning center and his team take a close look at which students still have minor gaps in their knowledge in which areas.

For over four years now, the last week of the Easter break has regularly been set aside as an intensive preparation week at Steinmühle Boarding School. The boarding school students taking the Abitur begin their day at 9 a.m. with breakfast together, during which they plan their day: a morning session until 1:30 p.m., an afternoon session, and a group barbecue in the evening.

This process involves making selections: Who learns what? The written exam subjects determine the topics for preparation from the outset. After the Easter break, one or two sessions on these topics are held each week in parallel. Supplementary offerings for the relevant subjects provide additional support for any questions that may arise.

For the presentation exams, every student at Steinmühle Boarding School has at least two preparation sessions; for the oral Abitur exam, at least one.
There is a high-level academic discussion covering all topics that may be relevant.

In this way, Steinmühle Boarding School ensures that all students in the graduating class achieve the best possible results.
