Steinmühle – School & Boarding School

Our Mission Statement

Life and learning at Steinmühle are based on the following basic rules and agreements:

  • We respect people, nature, and objects. In particular, this means that we strive to treat each individual fairly.
  • We foster a sense of community, help individuals develop a sense of self-worth, and prepare them for an independent, self-determined, and sustainable life.
  • We encourage curiosity and self-organization; we build skills and stimulate the senses. We demand and recognize achievement, and we expect our rules to be followed.
  • We see ourselves as a learning institution. We place our trust in others and take students, teachers, and parents—along with their interests, fears, and concerns—seriously.
  • We listen so that we can understand the interests of both the young people and their parents.
  • We create the conditions necessary to work as equals and to strengthen skills through “real-world” challenges (related to everyday life).
  • We take individual problems seriously and try to turn them into challenges that each person can take on and overcome.
