Reliable Support for Families

Young people today are growing up in a world that is more diverse, fast-paced, and demanding than ever before. Between academic demands, constant digital presence, social expectations, and the search for one’s own identity, a tension arises that calls for guidance, stability, and reliable relationships.
This time is often challenging for families. Conversations and discussions about motivation, academic progress, media use, or personal perspectives can have a major impact on everyday family life. At the same time, there is often little room in daily life to support these developmental steps with the necessary calm and professionalism.

Parents’ Partners

The Steinmühle provides a complementary space for living and personal growth. It is a place where young people can gain some distance, regroup, and (re)focus on their own strengths. The boarding school’s clear structure, reliable educational support, and close integration of life and learning create new opportunities for growth—for the young people and for their families.

We see ourselves as partners to the parents. Development is most sustainable when the boarding school and the family work together in a spirit of trust. We guide, advise, and support—with the shared goal of enabling young people to take responsibility for their own lives and actively shape their futures.

A Place of Development in a Changing World

For many families, this fosters a new quality of relationship: conversations become more open again, interactions more relaxed, and time spent together can once again be experienced as what it’s meant to be—connecting and strengthening.
The Steinmühle is thus not only a place of learning but also a place of growth—for young people and their families in a changing world.

Qualified educational support

The Steinmühle School and the boarding school are independent institutions, each with its own teaching staff. This dual structure was deliberately chosen and offers numerous advantages:

  • Boarding students have separate advisors and trusted adults at school and at the boarding school.

This way, if they have concerns or questions in one area, they can always consult “independent” trusted advisors from the other area.

  • The school’s teachers and the boarding school’s educators interact with the children and adolescents in different contexts and from different perspectives.

They continuously share their impressions and experiences, complementing and supporting one another to best nurture and challenge the students.

  • The boarding school’s educational staff is not part of the school system.

This allows the program to focus entirely on providing life guidance—both in terms of time and content—and to view the young people independently of their academic performance. The educators live on the boarding school grounds, so they are consistently and reliably present.

  • Accepting and adhering to agreements is an important part of growing up.

Boarding school offers the freedom to explore one’s potential, but it also requires and ensures that rules are followed. This includes, among other things, feedback meetings, work in the study hall, and regular drug testing. Throughout this process, the teachers maintain ongoing communication with the students’ parents.
