Westfalenhaus in the Sauerland: Encouraging One Another, Taking on Tasks Together
The Westfalenhaus group from the Steinmühle boarding school was in the Sauerland region this year and spent their group trip at a self-catering house, reports group leader Anne Gebhardt. She writes:
“The foosball table and the pool table—which was actually in constant use—were particularly popular. A few new talents were also discovered here.”
Overcoming Fear
Together, we then headed to a climbing course that placed a special emphasis on teamwork, so we were always in pairs at a minimum to solve the challenges together. With the help of others, we were able to overcome a few fears along the way.
Anne Gehhardt goes on to write: “It was especially wonderful to see how much the students supported and encouraged one another and celebrated together whenever an obstacle was ‘overcome.’
Bravely onto the Skywalk
“Height” was the theme of Saturday, because in the afternoon we headed to the Skywalk, which, at a height of up to 100 meters, offered a breathtaking panoramic view of the Sauerland. The bravest among the young people even filmed TikTok videos. The evening wrapped up with a cozy barbecue.
Before we headed back, we had one more round of black-light mini-golf on the agenda.
Taking on Tasks Together
According to Anne Gebhardt, the highlight of the weekend was, above all, how much the students were able to bond with one another, make new friends, and work together as a community to take on all the tasks, such as kitchen duty. It’s also worth mentioning that one group member rode his road bike all the way to the lodging near Willingen—and back again.
