Career Fair Offers Guidance Through the Maze of Opportunities

High school graduation—and then what? This question comes up quite often, because high school seniors often don’t yet know exactly where their path will lead once they’ve earned their high school diploma.

Through several initiatives, the Steinmühle is placing greater emphasis on career guidance. One such initiative is the Career Information Day organized by the Marburg-Schloss Rotary Club, which was last held two years ago and has now once again drawn students in Qualification Phase 1 to the Steinmühle Forum.

Representatives from numerous professional fields were on hand to explain to the young people, in small group discussions, what formal and personal qualifications are required for their potential dream careers. Professions represented included those in the fields of medicine, business, industry, law, IT, technology, and pharmacy, as well as engineering, law enforcement, the German Armed Forces, psychology, journalism, banking, and international business.

Staff members from the German Red Cross Nurses’ Association were also there, as it is one of the many organizations that offer opportunities to complete a voluntary social service year.

During the two-hour event, organizers Sigrid Stechmann (coordinator of school internships at Steinmühle) and Hans-Heinrich Bähr (Rotary Club Marburg-Schloss), along with Principal Björn Gemmer, observed lively discussions at all the tables. Thanks to this practical information, many students’ career choices were likely narrowed down or even solidified.
