Charity Event: On the Trail with Sherlock Holmes at the Steinmühlen Forum

,

The ultimate pleasure of the Marburg Hörtheatrale’s performances unfolds when you close your eyes. That’s when your own imagination takes over. This was also the case on Tuesday evening, when the Hörtheatrale ensemble performed in the school’s forum at the invitation of Steinmühle and the Friends of the School Association. The trio—consisting of Daniel Sempf, an actor employed at the Marburg Schauspielhaus, and his colleagues Franziska Knetsch and Stefan Gille—presented Arthur Conan Doyle’s mystery “The Speckled Band” in a blend of radio play and live theater.

The audience in the packed Forum followed the investigations of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes, whose task, together with John Watson, was to solve the mysterious murder of a woman. But that wasn’t all. Her sister, Helen Stoner, was also already feeling threatened. Understandably so—especially when you had to endure the eerie and intimidating noises that could be heard all around her!

A substantial sum for the new construction fund

Although admission to the event was free thanks to support from the Steinmühlen Friends Association, the guests were happy to contribute to the evening’s costs. Designed as a benefit event to raise funds for the interior design of the new building currently under construction, the guests donated a truly impressive total amount—much to the delight of Melisande Lauginiger, who came up with the idea for the evening and organized it perfectly. The inspiration for the event came from the mystery novel project she is currently working on with 7th-grade students. This led to an additional highlight of the evening when Emilia Ouaissa, a student in class 7c, kicked off the event with a reading from her own mystery story. Since cultural enjoyment goes hand in hand with culinary delights, the tireless Steinmühle Catering Club, under the dedicated leadership of Fido Wagler, provided drinks and snacks both during the intermission and at the end of the evening.

Following the charity run at the Fall Festival and the concert given by concert tenor and Steinmühle teacher Daniel Sans, the performance by the Marburg Hörtheatrale at the Steinmühle was the third successful fundraising event to benefit the Neubau-Kasse.
