mecodia AKADEMIE educates students and teaches parents

Once again, a representative from mecodia AKADEMIE visited Steinmühle to host various events on the topic of “Generation Online – Young People’s Media Worlds” .

This year, Mr. Felix Ebner served as mecodia’s expert speaker. He is a long-time employee and co-founder of the academy. He proved to be a knowledgeable expert on the current online scene and demonstrated his skill as a facilitator, engaging both parents and students. This event was sponsored by Sparkasse Marburg-Biedenkopf.

Even though the current generation of parents of our young students can certainly be described as “digital natives” from the very beginning, the online world of their children still seems quite foreign to many of them. In his presentation, Mr. Ebner succeeded in providing the parents with some basic knowledge.

Topics included:

– The “normal” daily online routine for teenagers,

– the spread of new services,

– the world of YouTube with Gronkh, ApeCrime, LeFloid, and Bibi,

– FOMO: Fear of missing out, or the fear of missing something,

– WhatsApp,

– real life in the media world,

– Snapchat,

– Sexting and

– the new possibilities in the generational conflict.

The workshops with the students focused primarily on:

– online security,

– the protection of identity and

– avoiding unwanted online consequences, such as cost traps.

Feedback from both parents and students was consistently positive, and for anyone who couldn’t attend, here are a few helpful links:
