Steinmühle mourns the loss of Theo Nauheimer

,

From 1980 until his retirement in 2016, Theo Nauheimer taught art and physical education at Steinmühle, serving as the school’s physical education director for many of those years.

His goal was to bring together school sports, recreational sports, and league sports. As a result, Theo Nauheimer established numerous school sports teams that enjoyed great success both regionally and throughout Hesse—particularly in handball and badminton.

In later years, initiatives to participate in “Youth Trains” competitions were added, such as basketball or triathlon.

Through the swimming lessons in 5th grade and the school ski courses in 10th grade, Theo Nauheimer came into contact with nearly all of the students at Steinmühle over the course of decades, making him a defining figure in our school community.

In his second teaching subject, he is best remembered for his dedication to the art of photography. Through both required and elective courses, he turned the photo lab into a popular creative hub at Steinmühle. His students’ photographs adorned the hallways of all the school buildings.

On Friday, February 6, 2026, Theo Nauheimer passed away after a battle with cancer.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to him for his work and dedication.

Our thoughts are with his wife Carmen and his children Yvonne, Ingo, Lasse, and Till.
