Marburg Night Marathon: Steinmühle Back at the Starting Line with Five Relay Teams
Despite it being vacation season, Steinmühle—competing for the sixth consecutive year—was able to field five relay teams at this year’s Marburg Night Marathon. Temperatures of a good 30 degrees made running conditions difficult, especially for the first runners, but this did not detract from the team’s overall performance or the spirit within the Steinmühle team. As a result, four of the five relay teams finished under the magic 4-hour mark. The strongest Steinmühle relay team was the eighth-grade group consisting of Robin Konnertz, Leonard Glock, Yasin Yilmaz, and guest runner Fabian Mankel, with a total time of 3:37:36 hours (41st place overall). The Steinmühle 1 relay team, consisting of Björn Gemmer, Frank Wemme, Marc Bepperling, and high school senior Lasse Roggenkamp, also put in a very impressive performance (42:00 minutes for the final 11-kilometer lap). Their time of 3:45:36 hours placed them 59th out of 167 relay teams that started. Unfortunately, Steinmühle running legend Andreas Heiske was unable to compete in this relay due to an injury, but he took care of the on-site logistics as usual. Thank you very much for that!
