Steinmühlen Sports Day: From Track and Field to Dodgeball
On Tuesday, the entire lower secondary school celebrated a sports festival filled with fun and great performances. While the 7th-grade classes organized a rowing event featuring a triathlon (rowing on the water and on the ergometer, as well as a relay race) at the boathouse and the 10th-grade classes held a volleyball tournament, the 5th, 6th, 8th, and 9th-grade classes gathered at the main sports field. There, they competed in several disciplines from past Federal Youth Games and tested their skills in team sports tournaments (Grade 5: soccer; Grade 6: dodgeball; Grade 8: basketball; Grade 9: Frisbee). “In track and field, we canceled the 800-meter run as a precaution due to the high temperatures,” reported school sports coordinator and organizer Michael Neirich. Colleagues from Steinmühle assisted him in running the sports day, which ended at 1:00 p.m. The students were delighted to receive medals and certificates for their outstanding performances in the various events.
