Three real showstoppers: The Theater Club’s fairy tales

Archive, Uncategorized

The Theater Club, led by Ms. Lauginiger During the second half of the last school year, as part of a lunchtime club, the students worked on modernizing three fairy tales. The three final projects were developed and produced entirely independently by the 6th-grade students, based on the original fairy tales. At the end of the school year, the three groups presented the plays “Rumpelstiltskin”, “Cinderella” and “The Brave Little Tailor” in a very well-done and humorously staged performance in front of their grade level.

The audience—6th-grade students—was thoroughly entertained; they laughed at all the right moments and gave plenty of heartfelt applause. We can certainly look forward to the 7th-grade theater workshop next school year. This class clearly has a lot of acting potential!

5th Grade Musical 2016: WIMBA

Archive, Uncategorized

This year’s story was about six children who find a message in a bottle and fly to a jungle island in a helicopter they built themselves. There, they must navigate the jungle, where monkeys have gone wild, and a stalactite cave with dangerous stalactites. They have to overcome a number of adventures, and in the end, all the children are back home. The main character, “Wimba,” was also able to return to his galaxy, and the children took their tiger, Tigris, back with them to Marburg.

The audience enjoyed a cheerful and lively musical during both performances. The youngest audience members from the Cappeler Goldberg Kindergarten were particularly fascinated.

Steinmühlen Soccer Team Finishes in a Respectable Sixth Place in the Hesse Finals

Archive, News

With two key offensive players already unable to make the trip to Grünberg, the Steinmühlen team’s center forward was also injured during warm-ups. As a result, only 13 players were available for the long day of tournament play.

Despite this significant loss of players, the team managed to earn a well-deserved 0–0 draw against the team from Kassel, which would go on to finish third in the tournament. This opening match gave the players a boost and renewed confidence. With great team unity and an unstoppable fighting spirit, they defeated their next opponent from Friedrichsdorf 1–0 thanks to a goal by Marc Potthast. With this victory, the semifinals suddenly came back within reach. However, the final group-stage match against the Elly-Heuss-Schule from Wiesbaden—one of the tournament favorites—could be lost by no more than a one-goal margin. After a hard-fought battle, the team managed to hold on to a 0–1 deficit for a long time, but by the end of the match, fatigue and the opponent’s superior play began to take their toll, resulting in a 0–3 loss.

After missing out on the semifinals, the players in the 5th-place game clearly struggled to muster the fighting spirit to give it their all again. Nevertheless, they nearly tied the game in the final minute with a shot that hit the post. As it stood, however, our team had to concede a 2–3 loss to the team from Dillenburg, despite goals from Mio Essers and Arthur Laux.

The team can also be proud of its 6th-place finish, as it represented Steinmühle with great success and an impeccable attitude at the state finals this school year.

Across the Galaxy with Wimba – A Musical Performance by the 5th Grade

Archive, News

On June 29 and 30, all three fifth-grade classes at Steinmühle performed the musical “Wimba” with great enthusiasm. Thanks to the help of four students from the “Sound & Light” club, led by Werner Eismann, the technical aspects of this grand spectacle went off without a hitch.

With the help of art teachers Ms. Vielhaben and Ms. Rabben-Martin, the Steinmühle Forum was transformed into a jungle. In gym class, we practiced choreography, waveboarding, gymnastics, and acrobatics to the songs.

Our story is about six children who find a message in a bottle and, as a result, fly to a jungle island in a helicopter they built themselves. There, they must navigate the jungle, where monkeys have gone wild, and a stalactite cave filled with dangerous stalactites. But don’t worry: In the end, all the children make it back home. The main character, Wimba, was also able to return to his galaxy, and the children took their tiger, Tigris, back with them to Marburg.

The lively group was led by Ms. Wilmsmeyer, Mr. Sans, and Mr. Wemme, the director of the musical theater band. We would like to thank the choir directors for their patience and their kind approach in teaching our 60 choir children.

A resounding success: The Marburg Night Marathon featured 15 relay teams from Steinmühle!

Archive, News

For the first time ever, Steinmühle managed to register 15 relay teams for the Marburg Night Marathon—a new record for participants! And everyone was at the starting line: not only students and teachers, but also parents, alumni, and friends of Steinmühle. All 15 relay teams that started the race crossed the finish line—which is quite an achievement in a competition like this—and twelve teams finished in under four hours.

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents, colleagues, and our students who represented Steinmühle this year.

It was a blast for everyone involved, and it will continue next year!

You can find photos of the individual relay teams here!
