On Sunday, September 6, “new” and “returning” boarding students were warmly welcomed by the educational team at Steinmühle. As always, the first week of school flew by.
As is tradition, the residential groups spent their first weekend together outside of Steinmühle. The students chose a wide variety of destinations for their get-to-know-you weekend.
The nine students from Hessenhaus chose the Strohhotel in Stammen near Kassel for their get-to-know-you weekend. The nights on the straw mattresses were an adventure and, contrary to expectations, very comfortable. The Hessenhaus group spent their days barbecuing, enjoying campfires, and going on a canoe trip.

The high school students from Westfalenhaus braved the wind and weather and set out on the long journey to Spiekeroog as early as Thursday. Heavily laden with backpacks, sleeping pads, and sleeping bags, they traveled by bus and ferry to the North Sea island. The boarding school camp was located in the middle of the dunes at a beautiful natural campground. The students prepared their own meals and enjoyed cozy moments together during mealtimes.

The residents of the mill were staying in Wiesbaden, the capital of Hesse. They toured the city and went on long hikes.
