Steinmühle Impresses at the Marburg Night Marathon with 11 Relay Teams

That was really impressive: Of the 131 relay teams that took the starting line, 11 (eleven!) were wearing the Steinmühlen jersey. In addition to the half-marathon and marathon courses, the Marburg Night Marathon features a relay race in which teams of four runners each share the 42.2 km equally.

The school administration and management—but above all the project’s initiator, our teacher Dr. Heiske—had put out the word, and many, many people came: not only the athletic members of the faculty and student body, but also parents and alumni.

And all the relay teams made it to the finish line—a feat that deserves the highest praise, given the evening temperatures of around 30°! With temperatures at 35°C and the sun beating down, it wasn’t exactly pleasant, especially for the lead runners, so no one could have expected personal bests under those conditions. Kai Bach, Niclas Mägerlein, and his mother Susanne Mägerlein deserve special respect for completing a half-marathon despite the heat.
