The Story of Hussam

"Hussam cooked for everyone first before he ate anything himself."

Hussam Tamim, a refugee from Syria, now looks back on his time at the Steinmühle as a stroke of good fortune following his harrowing escape. At the Steinmühle, he found not only a place to stay but also a family-like environment, which provided the conditions for his personal growth.

A role model for others

Hussam seized every opportunity that came his way. He learned the language, persevered, and always kept his goals in sight. Throughout it all, he consistently felt the need to give back to those around him, letting others go first and putting himself last. His entire personal development—from high school graduation to completing a dual degree program—reflects an attitude that can only be described as exemplary.

"For me, the Steinmühle is not only a place where I was able to further my education, but also a home characterized by a wonderful, family-like atmosphere."
