Music lovers, we highly recommend marking this very special date on your calendars right away. Daniel Sans, a music teacher at Steinmühle and an internationally acclaimed concert tenor, together with Matthias Guthier, winner of the national award for best art song interpretation, invites you to a recital on Sunday, November 12, at 5 p.m. in the Steinmühle Forum.

The evening features art songs by Beethoven, Schumann, and Mahler and is titled “Of Love, Joy, and Sorrow.”

The following will be presented:

• by Beethoven: To the Distant Beloved
• von Schumann: Dichterliebe
• by Mahler: Songs of a Wayfarer

Admission to this high-quality concert is free. The concert is part of a series of events to raise funds for the interior design of the new Steinmühle building, and donations will be accepted that evening. The concert will end at approximately 6:30 p.m.

On the last day of school, 123 students were honored

At the end of the school year, there was another event at which the most dedicated students received special recognition. Whether in sports, cultural activities, volunteer work, or science and math competitions, year after year the school finds that many of its students are involved in remarkable and commendable activities outside of the classroom.

And so Mr. Gemmer, together with Ms. Faß and the student body presidents Efstathios Ioannidis and Leon Sauer, was able to recognize their special achievements and successes. The honorees received small treats and school certificates. A total of 123 students were honored.

It’s especially heartening to see students who excel in multiple areas: For example, Nela Haberle (5c) stood out not only in the Math Olympiad but also in the Hesse regional competition of “Jugend musiziert.” Paula Auschill (6a) is a successful track and field athlete who also celebrated winning a reading competition. Jan Audretsch (7b) is our most successful student in math competitions and has also achieved championship honors in table tennis. Pianist Nelly Endres (8b) took second place at the national level in the “Jugend musiziert” competition, was successful in “Jugend forscht,” and is a key player on the Steinmühle soccer team. Flûte Seifart (9b) also demonstrates her versatile talents time and again: she excels in dance competitions, leads the theater club for grades 5 and 6, is an active member of our school’s music scene, and serves as chairperson of the district youth parliament. The school is also very pleased with the contributions of Sam Kempkes (10c). He has played a major role in the success of our soccer team in the “Jugend trainiert für Olympia” competition and is a reliable driving force behind the Sound & Light Club, ensuring the technical success of the many events held in the Forum.
Sam and his team also pulled off this event with flying colors, with Nina Simmer, Talea Funk, and their group, as well as Sonja Mecke, providing a fantastic musical backdrop.
