“Ohne Punkt und Komma” Writing Contest: Naomi Skibbe Won Again

,

She’s just that good! For the third time, Naomi Skibbe, a 10th-grade student in class 10b, won first prize in the statewide “Ohne Punkt und Komma” competition. This is a writing contest organized by the Hessian Ministry of Science and the Arts.

The Steinmühlen student’s winning streak began in 2014. At that time, she was among the top finishers with her story “Checkmate”; two years later, in 2016, she placed first again with her story “A Beautiful Lie.” This year, her entry was titled “Soap Bubble” and once again took first place.

To ensure that the jury evaluates the entries impartially, they are always submitted anonymously. Each year, the jury selects five first-place and five second-place winners—all of whom are ranked equally—for each age group (12–13-year-olds and 14–15-year-olds) statewide.

This year, the prize for the first-place winners consisted of a cash award of 350 euros. In addition, the 20 winning stories were published in a book, and each winner received four copies.

The awards ceremony, hosted by Minister of State Boris Rhein, took place in early December in the theater hall of the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm in Frankfurt am Main.
