A close call, but well-deserved: Team “Delta” won the Steinmühlen soccer tournament
For this year’s Steinmühlen soccer tournament, held according to the tried-and-true format, the six participating teams gathered at the Cappeler Sports Hall. Teams from the school (grades 8–12 and teachers) and the boarding school (students and counselors) competed. Team composition was determined by a draw.
In a friendly, competitive, and fair atmosphere, the matches were played at the highest technical level, reported organizer Michael Neirich. Spectators were treated to many beautifully crafted goals and some impressive technical feats.
In the end, the tournament schedule had it that Team “Delta”—consisting of Sebastian Grunewald, Jannis Borsdorf, Nils Rupp, Bastian Sasse, Dejan Boguslawski, Lars Flühe, and Finn Weckmüller, would face off against “Die Raketen” (Michael Hermens, Hannibal, Laurens Hamann, Habib, Paul Wolf, Ahmad, and Jamal) for the tournament title in the final match. In a high-caliber and closely contested match, Team “Delta” ultimately prevailed by a narrow 2–1 margin, becoming the well-deserved tournament champions. The team had managed to win several high-scoring matches throughout the afternoon.
