The Steinmühle WK II soccer team (grades 8–10) wins the city championship in the “Youth Trains for the Olympics” competition with ease

,

On September 24, the Steinmühle soccer team dominated the city tournament with three wins and a goal differential of 19–4. Last year’s successful team, bolstered by players born in 2000, thus seamlessly built on the successes of the previous school year, when they finished in a respectable fourth place at the state tournament.

Even in the 6-1 victory over the Emil von Behring School The team led by captain Jonas Pfalz put on a dominant performance. The 9-2 victory over the Sophie of Brabant School highlighted the difference in class among the teams. In the final game against the Elisabeth School At first, our team faced much stiffer resistance and, due to a lapse in concentration, fell behind 0–1. In the end, however, the team that played the better game prevailed, winning 4–1.

In addition to a very consistent and cohesive team performance, the three forwards—Jakob Reinhard, Tim Tumberger, and Jannis Borsdorf—in particular demonstrated their scoring prowess, each netting 5 goals.
