Admissions Process for the Bilingual Elementary School

Generally, admission to our bilingual elementary school takes place in first grade. However, provided there is sufficient capacity, we are also happy to assess whether your child meets the criteria for entering a different grade level. Please feel free to contact us.

Our admissions process consists of three steps:

an information session in late January/early February
a written application in February
a personal meeting in March and April

At a non-binding information session, you will not only receive details about the exact timelines and deadlines for the rest of the process, but also have the opportunity to ask questions about our program. In the subsequent written application, we ask that you address the question “Why Steinmühle Bilingual Elementary School?” to explain how you fit our target demographic and what you hope your child will gain from attending our elementary school. To do so, please fill out the following statement and include it with your letter.

Before the Easter break of each school year, we invite those families whose written applications have impressed us to a personal interview. Around Easter, you will receive a notification from us letting you know whether your child has been offered a spot at our school for the following school year.

Starting in January, you can find the date of the information session and the application period on our website.

We would like to let you know in advance that making such a selection is not easy for us and is done after careful consideration. We pay special attention not only to our target groups and any associated bilingualism, but also to gender balance and social and cultural diversity within the classroom communities. Of course, inclusion is very important to us.
