With three teams and a total of nine students, Steinm\u00fchle was represented this year at the regional \u201cJugend forscht\u201d competition in Lollar\u2014and with great success. The young researchers had to present their projects to a jury at a booth they had designed themselves.
\nAll participating teams gave compelling presentations and won prizes: <\/p>\n

A group of girls from the 11th grade did well in the \u201cJugend forscht\u201d competition:<\/p>\n

Second place in the biology category
\n<\/strong>went to Lena Noelle Jou\u00dfen (16), Fl\u00fbte Seifart (16), and Janina Seip (17) from the 11th grade (advisor: Dr. Dietmar von der Ahe) for their project on:
\nA Scientific Breakthrough? Could the Larva of the Greater Wax Moth (Galleria mellonella) Be the Solution to the Plastic Problem? <\/em><\/p>\n

The results of the \u201cSch\u00fcler experimentieren\u201d competition were as follows:<\/p>\n

  1. First place in the chemistry category<\/strong>
    \n<\/strong>for Morten K\u00f6hler (12), Benjamin Schul (13), and Joshua Wieder (12) from class 7a (Advisor: Dr. Jutta T\u00f6hl-Borsdorf) with the topic:
    \nChew Your Way to Health\u2014How Chewing Gum Affects the pH Level in Saliva <\/em> <\/li>\n
  2. First Place in Chemistry<\/strong>
    \n<\/strong>for Mats B\u00f6hmer (10), Marvin Preis (11), and Joel Rucker (10) from Class 5b (Advisor: Dr. Jutta T\u00f6hl-Borsdorf)
    \nTopic: Help, acid in juices. Titration of juices<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In addition, Steinm\u00fchlewon <\/strong>the\u201cJugend forscht\u201d school prize <\/strong>, worth 1,000 \u20ac, even though it has only been participating in the competition since last year. The jury particularly praised the participation of very young students and the exceptionally high quality of the projects and presentations. <\/p>\n

    Steinm\u00fchle is delighted that three students (Fl\u00fbte Seifart, Morten K\u00f6hler, and Joshua Wieder) have participated for the second year in a row.
    \nAll of the projects were created as part of the elective courses (Gufi Lab, WU Research).<\/p>\n
