{"id":45984,"date":"2014-09-04T19:38:10","date_gmt":"2014-09-04T17:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test.steinmuehle.de\/blog\/2014\/09\/04\/our-alumni-have-been-exceptionally-successful-at-world-championships-and-hessian-championships\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T15:42:22","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T13:42:22","slug":"our-alumni-have-been-exceptionally-successful-at-world-championships-and-hessian-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/en\/blog\/2014\/09\/04\/our-alumni-have-been-exceptionally-successful-at-world-championships-and-hessian-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Our alumni have been exceptionally successful at World Championships and Hessian Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With <b>Lucas Sch\u00e4fer<\/b> of RuS Steinm\u00fchle, the German lightweight coxless four secured<b> a sensational fourth-place finish<\/b> at the <b>U-23 World Rowing Championships<\/b> in Varese, Italy, on the last weekend of July.<\/p>\n<p>After finishing second in the preliminary heat and winning the repechage, Lucas&#8217;s boat was initially in sixth place following a slow start, but then overtook the Turkish and Japanese boats and came within seven hundredths of a second of the Italian bronze medalists.<\/p>\n<p>For Lucas Sch\u00e4fer, pictured here with his rowing partner Christopher Wetekamp (Allemannia von 1866 Hamburg), this World Championship finish is a huge success\u2014one that is currently unmatched in the region\u2019s rowing scene. His coach, Martin Strohmenger (RuS Steinm\u00fchle), looks to the future with optimism: \u201cThis was another step up the ladder of success, where Lucas was able to show, at least to some extent, what he\u2019s capable of.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>At the <b>2014 Hessian Road<\/b> Cycling <b>Championships<\/b> in Stadtallendorf, our former student <b>Julian Essers<\/b> dominated the time trial and secured the title of Hessian U23 Time Trial Champion. He completed the 27-km course in less than 35 minutes, achieving an average speed of approximately 46 km\/h.
