Did the Steinm\u00fchle\u2019s already rich cultural program really need yet another event? After the first Open Stage event on January 26, 2016, it was clear to all visitors and participants: absolutely! The audience enjoyed a total of 17 performances. <\/span><\/p>\n

And it was a varied program: Following the lively opening performance by the \u201cSwing and Sing\u201d<\/b> club, featuring students from grades 5 and 7, there were\u2014in no particular order\u2014nine vocal numbers and seven solo instrumental performances, with all the performers receiving long, sustained applause. The singers were skillfully and sensitively accompanied by pianist Olaf Roth<\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Among the many excellent performances, there was once again something particularly noteworthy: the confidence with which Nelly Endres<\/b> (piano), Tom Herfert<\/b> (saxophone), and Johanna Sodmann<\/b> (piano) played their instruments, and the skillful way in which Maria Theresa Alves Hengstl<\/b> performed both on the harp and with her singing voice.<\/span><\/p>\n

The musical highlight was undoubtedly Bodam Lee<\/b> \u2019s violin performance, which would go on to earn her a perfect score of 25 out of 25 at the regional round of \u201cJugend musiziert\u201d a few days later. As a special treat, there was also a remarkable joint performance with Marco L\u00fcddecke<\/b> (piano), during which our boarding school counselor revealed himself to be a composer. <\/span><\/p>\n

And then, the emotional climax at the very end: <\/span>Mohamad Saboor Tajik<\/b><\/span>, our Afghan student, rapped \u201cA Few Words About Afghanistan,\u201d expressing his concern for his homeland and his personal feelings.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
