And Christmas carols were sung as well. It really had a little bit of everything, and the many visitors to the event were thrilled.  <u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>The <b>Chamber Music Club<\/b>, led by F. Wemme, set the first festive tone of the evening with two jazzy arrangements of Christmas carols.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>WU Lieder<\/b>, conducted by Mr. Wever, evoked the \u201cOriental Wave\u201d of the early 1960s with their performances, and since the lyrics of \u201cOh Mustapha\u201d and \u201cCafe Oriental\u201d hardly meet today\u2019s standards of political correctness, they were given an ironic twist and translated into Persian\u2014much to the audience\u2019s delight.<\/p>\n<p>Chamber music enthusiasts were treated to two groups: first, the <b>Saxophone Quartet<\/b> featuring Ms. Sturm von der Ahe, which performed Renaissance pieces and Christmas carols; and second, the <b>Tango Trio<\/b> featuring the Verweyen siblings. The trio took on quite a challenge with two pieces by Astor Piazzolla, but they mastered the task with ease. <\/p>\n<p>In the end, the <b>high school choir<\/b> provided a rousing finale. A major part of the choir\u2019s inspiring performance was due to its tireless motivator (choir director) D. Sans and the <b>accompanying band<\/b> featuring Frank Wemme (electric bass and electric guitar), Olaf Roth (keyboard), and Arthur Laux (drums). From \u201cKilling Me Softly\u201d to \u201cRadio Gaga\u201d to \u201cSupergirl,\u201d the set list offered something to delight the hearts of both the young and the young at heart.  <\/p>\n<p><a
