{"id":43261,"date":"2015-07-25T16:35:47","date_gmt":"2015-07-25T14:35:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test.steinmuehle.de\/blog\/2015\/07\/25\/on-the-last-day-of-school-steinmuehle-honors-students\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T15:35:58","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T13:35:58","slug":"on-the-last-day-of-school-steinmuehle-honors-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/en\/blog\/2015\/07\/25\/on-the-last-day-of-school-steinmuehle-honors-students\/","title":{"rendered":"On the Last Day of School: Steinm\u00fchle Honors Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A great way to wrap up the 2014\u201315 school year: On the last day of school, before report cards were handed out, the student body gathered in the Forum to \u201ccelebrate\u201d their classmates who had achieved outstanding accomplishments outside of the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>Well over one hundred school certificates were awarded for achievements in school competitions, for outstanding commitment in social, political, and cultural areas, and for exceptional athletic achievements.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to single out anything in particular, but here are a few examples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The achievements of <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Jan Audretsch<\/b><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-size: small\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Caroline Mauersberger<\/b><\/i><\/span> and other students in the <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>math competitions<\/b><\/i><\/span>,<\/li>\n<li>the championship title for <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Julius Guthmann<\/b><\/i><\/span> at the German and Hessian <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Kung Fu Championships<\/b><\/i><\/span>,<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>the school&#8217;s rowing and soccer teams<\/b><\/i><\/span> from the school, which made it to the Hesse finals and performed well there,<\/li>\n<li>the <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>decathlon performances by Julius Grau<\/b><\/i><\/span>, who qualified for the \u201cGerman Championships\u201d with his 6,225 points,<\/li>\n<li>the reliability and the <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>dedication of the Steinm\u00fchlen Catering Service<\/b><\/i><\/span>,<\/li>\n<li>the award for <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Naomi Skibbe <\/b><\/i><\/span>for her essay \u201cCheckmate,\u201d<\/li>\n<li>that <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>social commitment<\/b><\/i><\/span> of <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Merle Skrzypek<\/b><\/i><\/span> (refugee support), <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Rebecca Verweyen<\/b><\/i><\/span> (Youth Center), <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Lasse Jacob<\/b><\/i><\/span> (Retirement Home), <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>S\u00f6ren Nau<\/b><\/i><\/span> (CISV Peace Camp),<\/li>\n<li>the exceptionally strong performance of 24 female students in <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>DELF and Cambridge language certificates<\/b><\/i><\/span>,<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Leon D\u00f6ringer&#8217;s many talents<\/b><\/i><\/span>, who not only excels as a soccer player and student council president and has achieved the C1 level on the Cambridge scale, but also coaches a youth soccer team<\/li>\n<li>and, and, and \u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Mr. Gemmer<\/b><\/i><\/span> and <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Ms. Fries<\/b><\/i><\/span> , together with the student council presidents <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Leon D\u00f6ringer<\/b><\/i><\/span> and <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Finn Busmann<\/b><\/i><\/span> to organize a student awards ceremony that had everything that makes such an event special: sincere recognition of dedication and achievement.<\/p>\n<p>The <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>AG Band with Talea Funk<\/b><\/i><\/span>, the <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>WU Film<\/b><\/i><\/span> , and <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Christian Eifert and Alissa Thomas<\/b><\/i><\/span> were there. It went completely silent when <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>Bodam Lee<\/b><\/i><\/span> coaxed incredible sounds from her violin. <\/p>\n<p>And another factor that contributed to this was the behavior of the <span style=\"font-size: small\"><i><b>student audience<\/b><\/i><\/span>, who paid tribute to the honorees and audibly shared in their joy, creating the impression that \u201cWE ARE STEINM\u00dcHLE.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/01_5960-FILEminimizer.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full
