{"id":43223,"date":"2015-03-02T06:27:26","date_gmt":"2015-03-02T05:27:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test.steinmuehle.de\/blog\/2015\/03\/02\/student-lab-at-steinmuehle\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T15:26:24","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T13:26:24","slug":"student-lab-at-steinmuehle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/en\/blog\/2015\/03\/02\/student-lab-at-steinmuehle\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Lab at Steinm\u00fchle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With financial support from Roche and through the efforts of Ms. Weidenbach from the \u201cFriends Association,\u201d a student laboratory was set up at Steinm\u00fchle and handed over to the chemistry department on February 24, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The use of the new student lab serves several purposes: to promote self-directed, inquiry-based learning and the experimental exploration and explanation of phenomena in science and everyday life. Based on their interests, students can come up with their own science-related questions or be inspired by the instructors to tackle specific projects. Participating in competitions such as \u201cSch\u00fcler experimentieren,\u201d \u201cJugend Forscht,\u201d \u201cChemie mach mit,\u201d or others is certainly a special incentive.  <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Beatrix Wissel, the representative of the sponsor, Roch Pharma AG Deutschland, and Ms. Weidenbach, the chairwoman of the Friends Association, handed over the laboratory to the students in the advanced chemistry class, their instructor Dr. Jutta T\u00f6hl-Borsdorf, and Mr. Gemmer, the principal of Steinm\u00fchle High School.<\/p>\n<p>The student lab is intended <strong>for use by <\/strong>students in <strong>various grade levels <\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Offered as <strong>a WU in grades 8 and 9 ( <\/strong>participation in \u201cSch\u00fcler experimentieren\u201d or similar programs)<\/li>\n<li>Course offered as <strong>an elective in the introductory phase of high school ( <\/strong>participation in \u201cJugend Forscht\u201d or similar programs)<\/li>\n<li>Option for <strong>upper-level <\/strong>students to submit <strong>a <\/strong>research paper as<strong>a \u201cspecial academic achievement\u201d<\/strong>for the Abitur (in lieu of the oral Abitur exam)<\/li>\n<li>Individual students who are particularly interested or gifted could also be pulled out of <strong>NaUnt classes<\/strong>(program for gifted students).<\/li>\n<li>Projects within the framework of <strong>GuFi or <\/strong>the <strong>lunch-time clubs<\/strong> are also possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/4_ScienceLab1red.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4603\" src=\"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/4_ScienceLab1red.jpg\" alt=\"4_ScienceLab1red\" width=\"2571\" height=\"1200\"><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/3_4124vred.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4602\" src=\"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/3_4124vred.jpg\" alt=\"3_4124vred\" width=\"2284\" height=\"1200\"><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2_4121red.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4601\" src=\"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2_4121red.jpg\" alt=\"2_4121red\" width=\"1798\" height=\"1200\"><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/1_4113red.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4600\" src=\"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/1_4113red.jpg\" alt=\"1_4113red\" width=\"1454\" height=\"1013\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With financial support from Roche and through the efforts of Ms. Weidenbach from the \u201cFriends Association,\u201d a student laboratory was set up at Steinm\u00fchle and handed over to the chemistry department on February 24, 2015.
