{"id":43124,"date":"2016-07-11T22:16:31","date_gmt":"2016-07-11T20:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test.steinmuehle.de\/blog\/2016\/07\/11\/the-steinmuehlen-tennis-team-placed-fourth-at-the-state-finals-of-the-youth-training-for-the-olympics-competition-in-neu-isenburg\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T15:29:58","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T13:29:58","slug":"the-steinmuehlen-tennis-team-placed-fourth-at-the-state-finals-of-the-youth-training-for-the-olympics-competition-in-neu-isenburg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/steinmuehle.de\/en\/blog\/2016\/07\/11\/the-steinmuehlen-tennis-team-placed-fourth-at-the-state-finals-of-the-youth-training-for-the-olympics-competition-in-neu-isenburg\/","title":{"rendered":"The Steinm\u00fchlen tennis team placed fourth at the state finals of the &#8220;Youth Training for the Olympics&#8221; competition in Neu-Isenburg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">After two schools canceled their participation in the state finals at the last minute\u2014much to the surprise of the organizers\u2014only four schools ended up competing for the Hessian title in Neu-Isenburg in a round-robin format.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">Many of the matches in the state finals were of a remarkably high standard, as students from the Hesse squad also competed for the schools from Darmstadt and Wiesbaden.  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">Already in their first match against the <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><i>Gutenbergschule in Wiesbaden<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"> , it became clear that our team had little chance of success at this level. We lost all the singles and doubles matches by relatively wide margins. The significant difference in skill level during this match made it difficult for some team members to stay motivated for the next two matches. <\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">The Steinm\u00fchlen team also stood no chance against the eventual champion from Darmstadt. However, due to the tournament format, there was still a chance in the final game against the <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"><i>Wigbertschule from H\u00fcnfeld<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\"> . The three doubles matches alone showed that these were two evenly matched teams. The girls\u2019 doubles team of Laura Hertl and Nina Horn went on to secure the first points for the Steinm\u00fchlen team. Despite trailing 2\u20134 after the three doubles matches, the match could still have been turned around with three wins in the singles, but unfortunately, only Nina Horn managed to secure a victory in her singles match, meaning the team missed out on the bronze medal.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">As is often the case at a state championship, many top-level students from Hesse competed in Neu-Isenburg.
