The students spent last weekend at the boarding school. They used their time together for a wide variety of group activities:
\nFrom October 8 to 12, 2014, the book industry gathered in Frankfurt for the 66th Frankfurt Book Fair<\/strong>. There were 32 award ceremonies and plenty of stars and starlets to marvel at. Some students from Steinm\u00fchle were there and spent an eventful day surrounded by books and listening to interesting talks by, for example, new author Jeanette Biedermann and former politician Norbert Bl\u00fcm. Satisfied and loaded down with all sorts of merchandise, they headed back to Steinm\u00fchle. <\/p>\n

Those who \u201cstayed home\u201d took advantage of the last rays of autumn sunshine and played a wild game of rugby<\/strong> on the sports field. The Bremerhaus opted for a bowling night<\/strong> in town. <\/p>\n

On Sunday afternoon, the students gathered in the dining hall and carved spooky faces into pumpkins<\/strong> with great enthusiasm and fun. This eerily beautiful Halloween tradition<\/strong> dates back to the Irish legend of the late Jack O\u2019Lantern. Although he had escaped from hell, the gates of heaven remained closed to him. Thus, he was doomed to wander eternally between hell and heaven, carrying a glowing piece of hellfire in a hollowed-out turnip.
\nThe students put their whole bodies into carving their pumpkins, often with both arms buried in the bright orange vegetables. The finished works of art were used to decorate the grounds and the residential buildings in an autumnal style. <\/p>\n
